Twitter’s empty nest

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Twitter’s all over. It seems as though anybody who’s anybody is tweeting. I, as always, am behind the curve. I just don’t get it.

I was listening to a podcast on startupbizcast.com and the host mentioned Twitter as a social marketing tool. I understand that it can be powerful and that lots of people are doing it but that’s exactly what escapes me: the more people are doing it, doesn’t it get less powerful? I mean, the average person can only follow so many Twitter posts at any given time. Perhaps I don’t fully understand. It’s not the first time.

By no means am I criticizing Twitter nor those who tweet – they are making the most of the medium. I would like to try it too. In my mind, however, I see a list of entries such as this:

- Getting ready to draw.

- Drew.

- Going to work.

- Worked.

Does the above interest anyone? If so, maybe I should get on the Twitter bandwagon. If not, maybe I should leave the tweeting to the big birds.
