I have struggled with strips like this in the past. Part of me wants to have Perk in every strip (since it is called Perk at Work). But the idea of Perk at Work is just that: something to perk us up while we work. And while it may seem ironic that this particular strip depicts the opposite, it is intended to make the reader chuckle (provided they know the nature of the character).

Exploring different formats can be hit or miss. I’ve worked on strips with two characters without one of them being Perk. Those strips seemed flat. But strips like this can be fun. And it’s good to mix up the routine a bit.
