From the Vault: Dirty Bum Cat
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010I was digging around the vault and came across this:
When I lived in Portland, OR, there was a stray cat that hung around my apartment. And while all stray cats are hoboes, this one was of the dirty bum variety.
I realize the use of the term “dirty bum” may not be PC, but it is an appropriate adjective and noun:
dirt·y [dur-tee] –adjective 1. soiled with dirt; foul; unclean: dirty laundry.
bum [buhm] –noun 1. a person who avoids work and sponges on others; loafer; idler. 2. a tramp, hobo, or derelict.

This cat was a dirty bum cat. I may be wrong but aren’t all cats supposed to clean themselves by way of licking? This means there are no external tools nor additional facilities needed. Basically this cat was dirty because it was either A) too lazy, or B) had no tongue. Since cats drink with their tongue and this cat was fully grown and had not died of thirst, I figure he was too lazy or “…avoids work…” as the good people at the dictionary office word it.
So I hope you enjoy this quick sketch done on some random day years ago of a Dirty Bum Cat I once knew. I think I fed it tuna once or twice. But I did not give him the Steel 211 he is holding. He got that from someone else.
