I was surprised to find that “hook up” did NOT refer to an arranged meeting, unless you spell it meating; that is an act of coitus.

When I was in school, one of the professors talked about “fuzzy membership” in which, rather than being a member of a group or not (true or false, 0 or 1), membership was a real number from zero to one, inclusive. so that with one group, I attend an occasional meeting and read the website once in a while, but for another group, I attend every meeting, read the website every day (sometimes twice) and encourage others to join or remain members.
For the first group, perhaps I have 30% membership and for the second, 70 or 80% membership.
